Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled professional to play a key role in enhancing business-critical processes and controls, ensuring the effectiveness of safeguarding and strengthening practices within our organization.
- Lead or collaborate as part of a team on investment suitability and cross-border controls review and testing of our Global Wealth Management division
- Conduct thorough analyses and assessments of risks arising from both business and support functions
- Identify and evaluate the design, implementation, and effectiveness of controls aimed at addressing those risks
- Compile and communicate review findings, root causes, and risks, preparing reports of reviews for senior management
- Develop recommendations for items that solution owners should consider when finalizing their action plans
- Review remediation actions submitted by the business for closure to assess whether these have addressed the original risks
- Successfully collaborate with peers in and across Group Compliance, Regulatory, and Governance (GCRG)
- Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders as well as senior management
You will be working in our Monitoring & Surveillance function based in Sydney. This independent function is within the 2nd line of defense, supporting GCRG in achieving its strategic, operational, financial, and compliance objectives.
Our approach involves assessing key processes as well as governance, risk management, and the control environment within the APAC region's key business divisions.
Our team consists of talented individuals who drive career growth in and outside the department. Our main responsibility is reviewing compliance controls specific to investment suitability and cross-border. In this role, you will cover reviews related to the GWM division.
Your Expertise- Minimum 3-4 years experience in external or internal audit or compliance controls testing within the financial industry
- Strong analytical skills and quantitative approach to problem-solving
- Ability to quickly understand complex processes and challenge the status quo, identify risks, and inadequacies in procedures
- Willingness to stay up-to-date with industry and regulatory developments, and learn new concepts and methods
- Effective communication with senior stakeholders
- Risk-focused, and capable of using data analytics (Alteryx, Microsoft Power Bi, Tableau, etc.) to gain insights into business trends and identifying outliers
- Reliable when working independently, with sound judgment for when to escalate issues
