Job Description:

The Australian Government's Joint Capabilities Group is seeking a highly skilled professional to provide capability and coordination for the National Support Division. This role involves working collaboratively with teams across Defence to plan, organize and draw upon whole-of-government and whole-of-nation capabilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the establishment of the National Support Concept and coordinating Defence's ability to plan and coordinate whole-of-government and whole-of-nation capabilities. They will work closely with the Head National Support and other senior leaders within Defence to achieve key outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the field of defence and national security. The right candidate will have a strong understanding of the National Security context and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding of National Security context
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to lead yourself and others through collaborative relationships and planning
  • Ability to make recommendations to resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action
  • High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives
  • Ability to actively influence and engage personnel within the business to ensure that directorate risks are identified and addressed proactively
  • In-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and policy requirements
  • Qualifications in Business Administration, Contracting, Public Administration or related discipline
  • Interpersonal skills to foster and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that aligns with Defence values
