Job Summary

The Senior Claims Consultant will manage a portfolio of complex liability and legal files within the liability claims department, while achieving cost-effective and quality claims handling through robust relationships with team members, internal and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of complex liability and legal files, ensuring timely and effective resolution of claims.
  • Assess liability and settlement outcomes, making informed decisions to minimize financial losses.
  • Negotiate with third parties, insurers, and legal representatives, including recovery agents and credit hire organizations, to secure favorable settlements.
  • Manage relationships with our panel of legal suppliers, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective communication.
  • Follow settlement methodology, adhering to company procedures and relevant legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Consult with external solicitors on claims requiring defense or settlement offers, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Resolve complex settlement claims, utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Apply Insurance Contracts Act, Code of Practice, and other regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Apply Australian legal process and procedures to ensure effective claims handling.

Requirements

  • Previous debt collection, paralegal, or insurance claims experience is highly regarded, demonstrating a strong understanding of complex claims handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, think proactively, and exhibit innovation and solution-based solving skills.
  • Extensive background in managing complex insurance claims, including legal litigation, is desirable, showcasing expertise in claims management.
  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Strong creative and strategic thinking to leverage department performance, driving business growth and success.
