Research Scientist

We are seeking an exceptional and motivated scientist to join our dynamic team at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. As a Snow Postdoctoral Researcher, you will have the opportunity to lead significant projects and develop new skills in a supportive environment with a strong emphasis on scientific excellence and a focus on impactful questions.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, such as Genomics, Functional Genomics, Population Genomics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Statistical Genetics. They will be highly autonomous with a strong motivation for independent research, and have an outstanding publication track record with demonstrated ability to lead projects to completion.
The role offers a competitive salary/package and investment into your leadership and professional development. You will be expected to show scientific leadership within the themes of the host laboratory and may be provided with the opportunity to manage a small team, depending on experience.
About the Role- Perform high-quality independent research, including the development of study hypotheses, designing and executing experiments and analyses, and the preparation of high-impact scientific manuscripts and presentations.
- Actively contribute to the development of research projects and collaborations, and the preparation of research grant proposals and progress reports.
- Co-supervise and mentor students and junior research staff.
- Actively contribute to a culture of scientific excellence through adherence to research best practices, rigorous quality control, and reproducible science.
