Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Security Lead to join our team, responsible for contributing to the security function as a senior security team member in delivering all aspects of security risk management and implementation. The successful candidate will be based at our Flinders Street Offices in SA with occasional local and national travel for business purposes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a thriving sector where we push boundaries to produce innovative technology, including SSN AUKUS. Our team has been selected by the Australian Government to jointly build the nation's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement security processes and guidelines in support of policy and standards requirements.
  • Supervise all operational security for the business area in line with local security strategy, policies, standards, and best practice.
  • Review and improve frameworks and functional processes aimed at developing and enhancing best practices and integrating efficient security solutions for the security environment.
  • Manage security risk assessments and mitigation strategies in line with BAE Systems Australia standards and policy.
  • Support and manage the security incident process, ensuring timely reporting and coordinated security investigations.
  • Manage, develop, and support a team of Security professionals.
  • Support and manage operational security compliance activities.
  • Manage security tasks and services based on relevant policies, standards, procedures, legislation, and best practice of the assigned work stream.
About You
  • Australian citizen eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 Defence Security & ITAR clearance required (essential).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong experience in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience in security and/or a Defence Industry role, including sound knowledge of the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and experience in relation to the implementation of security policy and process.
  • Working knowledge of Cyber Security Policy and standards.
  • Solid knowledge of Physical, Personnel, and Information Security.
  • Must hold or be able to gain a current Department of Defence Certificate in Security Officer Training.
  • Solid knowledge in handling physical assets and document security in relation to classified projects.
  • Completion of the Commonwealth COMSEC course would be desirable.
