Job Opportunity: Regulatory Change Expert

We are seeking a skilled Regulatory Change Expert to play a pivotal role in guiding our organization through the evolving landscape of regulatory and compliance changes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regulatory Monitoring and Strategic Analysis: Stay informed about new and changing legislation, government policy positions, and industry trends in both the energy sectors. Provide early intelligence and insights on proposed changes to influence internal planning.
  • Impact Assessment & Translation: Conduct end-to-end assessments of regulatory impacts including risks, opportunities, and process or system changes required. Translate regulatory obligations into actionable operational and procedural guidance tailored for different business units.
  • Stakeholder & Industry Engagement: Represent the organization at external regulatory or industry forums and working groups. Maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to anticipate developments.
  • Technology & Business Readiness: Partner with IT and project squads to embed compliance into system design and delivery (e.g., Gentrack, 1 P). Ensure that technology enhancements meet regulatory requirements and business expectations.
  • Change Management and Delivery: Perform change impact assessments (people, process, systems), identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies. Collaborate on sequencing and prioritisation of the regulatory pipeline. Lead or support change implementation including communication, training, and ongoing monitoring of adoption.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience in regulatory change, compliance, legal, or risk within the energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of Australian energy regulations and regulatory bodies (e.g. AER, ESC, ACCC, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience leading change in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with ability to assess regulatory impact and prioritise compliance actions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to senior executives.
  • Proven experience influencing business leaders and managing competing priorities.
