About the Economist Role

We are seeking an experienced Economist to join our team in a key position. This is a vital opportunity for an individual with a strong analytical background and excellent communication skills to contribute to major government reports and publications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting quantitative analysis of economic, financial and public policy issues of major significance to the economy and government.
  • Undertaking quantitative research and analysis, both as independent discrete work, and in contribution to broader projects.
  • Preparing timely, accurate and authoritative briefings on a wide range of economic and financial policy issues for senior management and government.
  • Communicating and consulting in an effective and influential manner with stakeholders.
  • Making contributions to major government reports, reviews and publications.
Requirements
  • Experience in providing quantitative policy advice.
  • A record of achievement using economic principles, analytical, research, and quantitative skills, with an understanding of quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to analyse complex datasets using statistical software such as Stata or R, including the development of modelling to identify issues and assess the fiscal implications of policy ideas.
  • Ability to provide strategic and influential advice to senior management or government on key policy issues in the economy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex issues persuasively and effectively. Ability to work collaboratively or on a self-directed basis.
  • Ability to identify, build and maintain strong networks and relationships with stakeholders.
