Senior Ranger OpportunityThe Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking a highly experienced Senior Ranger to lead our team on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). Our lands are owned by the Quandamooka People, who have voluntarily consented to a significant proportion of their lands being managed as National Park.We care for over 4000 hectares of unique coastal environment that supports diverse ecosystems including rainforests, woodlands, grasslands and mangroves.The successful applicant will provide leadership for the Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) management unit within field operations. This position requires high-level leadership and administration skills, strong understanding of natural resource management, and strong record-keeping and reporting skills to navigate QPWS systems used for park management and conservation purposes.This role involves developing and converting annual and strategic work programs into daily activities delegated to the team. You will deliver fire and pest management programs and activities consistent with protected area park management.This includes community engagement, compliance operations, visitor management, administration, financial management, capital works, safety, and vessel, plant, and equipment management.The position is based in Dunwich, Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). Daily ferry travel to and from the island will be provided for those choosing to live on the mainland. Occasional travel to other locations may be required.Key Responsibilities:• Lead a team of rangers based on Minjerribah to ensure delivery of day-to-day management across Naree Budjong Djara National Park, Teerk Roo Ra National Park (Peel Island), and associated vessel support operations.• Develop and convert annual and strategic work programs to on-ground daily and weekly activities delegated to the team.• Deliver fire and pest management programs and activities consistent with protected area park management including community engagement, compliance operations, visitor management, administration, financial management, capital works, safety, and vessel, plant, and equipment management.
