About the Role

The Director is a key driver and enabler in setting the strategic agenda for First Nations matters across the Defence enterprise. This involves understanding the political and strategic landscape, as well as the voice of our First Nations workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement First Nations strategies and enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Lead a small team to deliver on the First Nations Commitment, which includes employment, education, health, truth telling, inclusion, economics, and reconciliation
  • Manage events, support senior leadership champions, and provide secretariat support to the Defence Indigenous Cultural Advisory Group
  • Align strategic priorities to business activity and achieve results in collaboration with key stakeholders
Requirements

About Our Team

The Directorate's primary responsibility is the launch of Defence's First Nations Commitment in 2024. The First Nations commitment sets a significant forward work plan intended to enhance Defence's ongoing dedication to reconciliation and the broader First Nations agenda.

The Director leads a team to deliver on the First Nations Commitment, which will provide practical actions for employment, education, health, truth telling, inclusion, economics, and reconciliation.
