About the Role

We are seeking two passionate and highly organised Senior Advocates to support the ACT Public Advocate in exercising her statutory oversight functions, protecting and promoting the rights, safety, and wellbeing of Canberrans experiencing vulnerability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead small, specialised teams undertaking individual and systemic advocacy, oversight of service systems, systemic reform processes, and projects.
  • Apply excellent organisational, human services, and/or legal skills to effectively triage and respond to a wide range of information received by the Public Advocate.
  • Collaborate with ACT Courts on a pilot program with a direct service delivery component and a research/project component to inform future advocacy for vulnerable people involved with the legal system.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Social Work, Psychology, Law, Mental Health, Child Protection, etc.
  • Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.
