Sustainability Officer

The Sustainability Officer plays a pivotal role in driving our organization's sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies, aligning with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to monitor performance and drive initiatives for resource efficiency, waste reduction, and community relations.
  • Support the organization in achieving its sustainability goals while fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Foster strong internal governance, promoting company values and leadership competencies.
  • Functional: Implement and manage sustainability management programs, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Develop energy and water policies, procedures, and work instructions, guaranteeing compliance and effectiveness.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure non-conformances are addressed and records are kept, maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • Gather feedback on existing sustainability programs and encourage participation in new initiatives, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare monthly toolbox topics and quarterly newsletters on sustainable living, educating employees on best practices.
  • Conduct educational awareness for employees on sustainable practices, ensuring a shared understanding of our sustainability vision.
  • Consult with key stakeholders to identify areas of improvement, driving collaborative problem-solving.
  • Assist in ensuring sustainability targets are met, maintaining a focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Record, monitor, analyze data, and compile monthly sustainability reports, providing actionable insights.
  • Create and maintain sustainability program documentation, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Monitor new sustainable technologies that may benefit the organization, staying ahead of industry trends.
  • Provide administrative support and coordinate meetings, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Comply with audits and ensure farm visits are conducted, maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate with farmers and provide feedback on action plans, promoting cooperation and progress.
  • Assist with SIZA social audit registration and compliance, ensuring adherence to relevant standards.
  • Manage waste data capture and administration, streamlining processes and reducing waste.
  • Lead environmental initiatives and community upliftment programs, driving positive impact and engagement.
