The Director of Studies (Do S) UMELBP is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the University of Melbourne English Language Bridging Program (UMELBP). This program is a direct entry pathway into degree programs at the University of Melbourne, and the Do S plays a critical role in ensuring its success.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit, induct, and mentor UMELBP Team Leaders and teachers to ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Model high standards of work performance and provide staff with appropriate direction on course curricula, materials, and classroom practices.
- Manage Team Leaders effectively, including delegation of non-teaching tasks, and contribute to a positive and supportive workplace culture.
- Address concerns raised by students, staff, and other stakeholders, and maintain high teaching standards through classroom observations and assessment result moderation.
- Liaise with key stakeholders at the University of Melbourne to ensure their needs are met, and contribute to reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake evidence-based course reviews, including for accreditation purposes, and engage in part-time/cover teaching as required.
The Do S UMELBP ensures the program is delivered in compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks, including the National Code and ELICOS Standards, and contributes to the maintenance of client privacy and a safe working environment.
Requirements- Relevant postgraduate qualifications (e.g., Master of Education, Graduate Diploma in TESOL).
- Minimum 5 years' relevant TESOL teaching experience.
- Dynamic, talented educator with high standards of written and spoken communication, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- Diligent and organized administrator with strong analytical and presentation skills, and experience using MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Working with Children Check (or equivalent).
