Our nursing teams play a crucial part in delivering high-quality patient care across various settings and facilities.

Prison and Youth Detention Health Services operates on diverse hours at each centre, providing a seven-day service with flexible rosters that cater to different needs. Centres have rotating shifts of 8, 9.5, and 12 hours.

The Clinical Nurse – Prison and Youth Detention Health Services offers clinical leadership and expertise within a specific area, supporting the overall function of the unit through best practice principles, education, leadership, and portfolio management. This role models professional nursing standards aligned with the National Board for Australia.

About you

  • You will demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge in primary health care, delivering expert nursing care in complex situations, and supporting team members. Over two years of clinical experience in corrections, primary health care, emergency, or rural and remote health is highly regarded.
  • You should be able to model high standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to ensure quality patient outcomes, aligned with national healthcare standards.
  • You need strong relationship-building skills and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to others' learning and development.
  • You must coordinate effectively to manage staff and resources, prioritizing needs and adapting to daily changes.
  • You should support and lead quality improvement initiatives, using evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes.
  • You will communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, relatives, and visitors, maintaining a positive workplace culture through consultation, liaison, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
