Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Services Assistant to join our team at Respect, a rapidly growing not-for-profit aged care and retirement living provider.

About the Role:

  • This is a casual position located at our Wangaratta home in Victoria.
  • You will be responsible for implementing and coordinating an efficient maintenance program for buildings, equipment, and grounds at our residential aged care home and/or retirement village.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain buildings and public areas, including grounds, to a safe and high-quality standard.
  2. Perform general maintenance tasks to ensure facilities are safe, well-maintained, and in good working order.
  3. Conduct garden maintenance tasks to ensure garden beds, pathways, and outdoor seating areas are safe, clean, and free from debris.
  4. Maintain accurate records of the maintenance and gardening programs.
  5. Ensure adequate stock items for regular corrective maintenance and gardening tasks.
  6. Assist in maintaining an up-to-date asset register.
  7. Contribute to refurbishment, equipment replacement, and capital works planning.
  8. Identify preventative maintenance requirements and schedule tasks accordingly.
  9. Ensure preventative maintenance and corrective action according to legal requirements and documented schedules.
  10. Oversee external contract agreements as required.
  11. Maintain facility vehicles in a clean and tidy condition, with regular servicing.
  12. Be available for on-call service when not on duty, as directed by Respect.

Requirements:

  • General maintenance and gardening skills.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Current national police certificate (or ability to acquire).
  • Knowledge or experience in establishing and coordinating a maintenance program.
  • An accredited trade certificate relevant to the position.
  • Experience in residential aged care, retirement living, or similar businesses.

Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary package, including not-for-profit salary packaging, to attract and retain top talent. The estimated salary range for this role is AU$60,000 - AU$80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
