Lead Maternity Care Practitioner

Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Maternity Care Practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with other health professionals, and ensuring safe and efficient patient management.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in midwifery and nursing, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement and best practice principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care by applying clinical skills and contemporary knowledge to support optimal care outcomes.
  • Collaborate with patients and their support persons to provide woman-centred maternity care.
  • Undertake comprehensive ante and postnatal assessments and develop care plans that meet the physical, psychological, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Determine and monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout hospitalisation and communicate effectively with other health professionals.
  • Undertake comprehensive discharge planning to ensure patients and their support persons receive adequate support.
Requirements
  • Currency of neonatal resuscitation.
  • Currency of K2 Perinatal Training through an approved provider.
  • Other postgraduate qualifications in relevant nursing and midwifery speciality or working towards (e.g. lactation consultant).
  • Minimum of one year of postgraduate experience, including in birth suites.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and clinical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles.
