Job Title: Piano Instructor

We are seeking a skilled piano instructor to join our music department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching individual and group piano lessons to high-achieving students.

About the Role:

The Instrumental Music Instructor will provide expert instruction in contemporary and classical piano, preparing students for performances and exams, as well as writing end-of-term reports for parents.

Responsibilities include managing and rehearsing the Nossal High School Ensembles, attending faculty meetings, assisting with event preparation, and participating in events such as VCE Soirees and Speech Night.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality individual and group music instruction.Manage the Nossal School Ensembles, including repertoire development, rehearsals, performance preparation, and related administrative tasks.Attend faculty meetings, assist with event preparation, and participate in events as needed.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent technical expertise relevant to the position, with the ability to direct ensembles, choose appropriate repertoire, and engage with student interests to foster musical development.

You will also demonstrate high-level communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents, teachers, and the broader school community, ensuring effective collaboration and positive relationships.

A passion for music education and the ability to contribute to the development of the music program are essential.

Selection Criteria:

The following criteria will be used to assess your application:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the teaching of instrumental music, particularly piano (contemporary and classical), to students ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
  • Possess the technical expertise relevant to the position and demonstrate an ability to direct ensembles, choose appropriate repertoire, and engage with student interests to foster musical development.
  • Demonstrate high-level communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents, teachers, and the broader school community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a committed team of educators and contribute to the development of the music program.
  • Proactively contribute to building and retaining instrumental music student enrolments and encourage student participation in ensemble programs.
