About the Role

The Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service offers specialized mental health care to young people aged 12-25 in Melbourne's north and west, along with their families, carers, supporters, and kin.

This position is based at the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service team, providing youth mental health care in custodial settings. The team collaborates with Youth Justice staff to support young people voluntarily admitted to the new Mental Health Unit at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Custodial Precinct.

As a skilled clinical mental health professional, you will be part of an exceptional team at River Unit, developing your skills within a unique voluntary eight-bed forensic mental health unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality youth mental health care in custodial settings.
  • Collaborate with Youth Justice staff to support young people in the Mental Health Unit.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for young people.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Psychiatric Nurse with the relevant regulatory body.
  • Proven experience working with young people in mental health settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
