Senior Mental Health Clinician Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our clinical team at headspace Melton. The successful candidate will provide increased capacity to engage and support young people with complex needs in an enhanced primary care setting.

The Senior Mental Health Clinician will work closely with the clinical team to deliver youth-focused mental health care, managing complex cases and coordinating intake, assessment, and referrals for at-risk young people.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality mental health care services to young people aged 12-25, including completion of mental health assessments, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and short-term treatment interventions.
  • Support Emergency Departments to identify and address barriers to service access for young people at risk of self-harm or suicide.
  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, promote headspace programs, and engage in community awareness initiatives.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing) and full registration with AHPRA or AASW (or eligibility for).
  • Extensive experience in the planning and provision of mental health care, including current evidence-based approaches.
  • Demonstrated expertise in service systems, legislation, and government policies related to youth mental health and substance use.
  • Leadership skills, including supervision of staff, leading group interventions, and community engagement activities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build stakeholder partnerships.
