Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Executive Officer will perform a range of important administrative and other duties to support the service provided by the Tribunal. This includes management of all administrative functions associated with the Tribunal's review and inquiry processes, including receipt and organisation of submissions to the Tribunal, assisting applicants with navigating the Tribunal review process, drafting correspondence and arranging hearings.
Main Responsibilities:

- Drafting correspondence and arranging hearings;
- Providing administrative assistance to the Chair and Members of the Tribunal;
- Liaising with the Department of Defence and the office of the Minister for Defence Personnel.
About Our Team
The Defence Honours and Awards Appeals Tribunal is an independent statutory body established to investigate matters arising in the area of Defence honours and awards. The Tribunal is supported by a small unit that assists it in performing its statutory functions.
Our team is responsible for:
- Being the conduit between the Tribunal and applicants (mostly veterans) and with the Department of Defence;
- Liaising with the office of the Minister for Defence Personnel on issues arising in the Tribunal;
- Conducting research into issues put before the Tribunal in inquiry and review matters;
- Arranging and administering all public and private hearings and meetings of the Tribunal;
- Performing other governance functions and administrative duties as required.
