Job Title: Senior Instrumentation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control Systems & Instrumentation (CS&I) Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for designing and specifying general instrumentation, valves, and DCS/PLC based control systems.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumentation engineering, with experience in design and specification of process plant instrumentation. They will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and specify material handling and process plant instrumentation for small, medium, and large-sized projects.
  • Evaluate, package, and prepare engineering scope for Plant Control Systems, Telecommunications, and Instrumentation Packages for mining and processing plants.
  • Develop study reports, scopes of work, equipment specifications, functional specifications, and datasheets.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • Select and specify instrumentation according to equipment datasheets.
  • Design and modify panel layouts, schematic wiring, and termination diagrams for industrial control systems.
  • Develop changeover plans for brownfield control system upgrades.
  • Design PLC and Remote IO control systems.
  • Plan layout of plant control rooms.
  • Arrange location and placement of DCS and other control cabinets within the plant.
  • Participate in design and hazard reviews.
  • Review supplier documentation to ensure project specifications are satisfied.
  • Mentor and assist junior instrumentation and control system engineers.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent and 10-13 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience with functional safety systems and TUV certification highly regarded.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in engineering, demonstrated experience, CPEng status, and current RPEQ preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in Control System/Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Excellent attitude towards safety and ability to comply with safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated design and engineering experience in mining, processing plant, or oil and gas industries.
  • Current knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and study criteria pertinent to instrumentation and control systems engineering ensuring compliance of design work with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients.
  • Smart Instrumentation experience favorable.
  • Candidates must currently possess eligibility to work in Australia without sponsorship.
