Mechanical Engineer Role Overview

Arup is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team focused on delivering high-quality mechanical engineering services across water and wastewater projects.

This role will primarily involve supporting the design phase of projects for Sydney Water through our partnership with the company. However, there will also be opportunities to work on various water infrastructure projects in the region.

  • Support project teams and partners in planning and executing water supply and treatment systems.
  • Collaborate with Senior Mechanical leads to ensure successful project delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver mechanical components for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, focusing on those related to Sydney Water.
  • Work closely with project teams and clients to contribute to the growth of the mechanical engineering discipline within the water sector at Arup.
  • Develop proposals and bids, support business development activities, and provide technical expertise.
  • Mentor junior team members, ensuring accuracy and quality of work.
  • Represent Arup's water team at external meetings and participate in internal projects.
Required Qualifications:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with relevant experience in the water sector.
  • Membership in professional institutions and focus on achieving chartership.
  • Proven experience in designing water-related projects in a consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with competency requirements, preferably achieving M1 or M2 status.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset and problem-solving abilities.
