Electrical Design Engineer Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for producing drawings and designs as per client standards and design guidelines in coordination with the Lead Project Engineer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out assigned project and electrical engineering work as delegated in support of technical and commercial standards
  • Understanding electrical wiring and panel building based on ELV and LV designs
  • Reading and interpreting site audit photos, technical drawings, schematics, termination wiring, and scope of works to produce detailed design drawings in accordance with client standards
  • Drafting of design drawings using AutoCAD package and/or delegation of design requirements to a Drafter
  • Development of power calculations to determine loads and battery sizes
  • Liasing with manufacturers if required for development of equipment schedules for sites
  • Development of detailed engineering report for electrical installation changes required on site
  • Developing drawing design standards for consistency and accuracy
  • Responsible for the on-time delivery of allocated work schedules
  • Ensuring safety of designs through application of specialist expertise, standards, reviews, risk assessments, and risk management
  • Working within a team to deliver results within allocated time, budget, and quality constraints

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  • Ideal 3-5 years' industry experience in fields such as Defence, Building Services, LV Power Reticulation, Utilities, Water, Transport etc.
  • Understanding and implementation of relevant Standards and Codes (AS/NZS 3000, etc.)
  • Ability to apply and obtain RPEQ Certification as an Electrical Engineer in the next 12 months
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD/Electrical Design
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Capacity to effectively handle competing priorities, prioritizing work and meeting tight deadlines
  • Track record of working effectively individually and in a team environment
