Marketing and PR Project Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing and PR Project Officer to join our Future You program team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing practical project support for marketing and PR functions.

The role primarily entails developing communications and marketing materials, undertaking marketing activities, and providing general project coordination and support. This includes on-location and virtual event support, reporting, analytical duties, maintaining internal and external relationships, producing program resources, and providing administrative support.

The Future You program aims to promote STEM education and careers among students aged 8-12 years, their teachers, and parents/carers. The program has two core objectives: 1) to inspire girls and children from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue STEM careers, and 2) to raise awareness of the range of STEM career opportunities available.

About the Role
  • This is a fixed-term position for 2 years and 6 months.
  • Working hours are part-time (17.5 hours per week).
Responsibilities
  1. Develop comprehensive marketing plans and materials to further the reach of the Future You program.
  2. Support the delivery of Future You events and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals.
  3. Monitor, track, and report on project deliverables to ensure time, cost, and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans.
  4. Provide practical project support and administrative services to project team and stakeholders.
  5. Assess and monitor project risks and issues, and provide solutions where applicable.
  6. Coordinate project administration, including workshops and meetings, minute taking, manage assigned actions, and follow-ups, and project status reporting.
  7. Develop and manage effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project.
  8. Support adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent, and proven set of rules for project development.
  9. Identify opportunities to promote and further the reach of the program.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Experience in contributing to marketing plans and activities for a public-facing organization or project.
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet competing deadlines by using judgment and initiative.
