Research Fellow in Hardware Acceleration

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge hardware acceleration technologies.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years based at Werrington South Campus. The successful candidate will have a PhD (or submitted thesis) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related field, with experience in FPGA-based, neuromorphic or low-power AI hardware design.

You will be responsible for designing and implementing prototype hardware modules for ultra-low-power autonomous sensing and decision-making, as well as supporting experimental design, data collection, analysis and performance benchmarking.

The ideal candidate will have a strong research record, including peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas, and excellent communication skills. You will work closely with researchers and industry partners to deliver measurable outputs on a forward-thinking research project.

Remuneration package: Academic Level A ($112,718 to $136,180 p.a.).

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Design and implement prototype hardware modules for ultra-low-power autonomous sensing and decision-making
    • Support experimental design, data collection, analysis and performance benchmarking
    • Contribute to high-quality publications, technical reports and stakeholder briefings
    • Engage in multidisciplinary collaborations with researchers and industry partners
    • Assist with student supervision and contribute to teaching and coursework development
  • Requirements:
    • PhD (or submitted thesis) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related field
    • Experience in FPGA-based, neuromorphic or low-power AI hardware design
    • Strong research record, including peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas
