We are seeking a skilled Technical Officer to join our Microbiology department at Wollongong Hospital, part of NSW Health Pathology. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a leading referral and teaching hospital, providing comprehensive healthcare services to the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region.

As a Technical Officer, you will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory investigations and tests, applying established methods and procedures. You will also undertake other laboratory duties, including preparation of materials and maintenance of equipment, in line with established laboratory processes and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory investigations and tests, applying established methods and procedures
  • Undertake other laboratory duties, including preparation of materials and maintenance of equipment
  • Work in a responsible and efficient manner, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with customers, patients, and clinical laboratory staff
  • Display initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills, applying established principles in a pathology laboratory
Requirements
  • Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the Microbiology department
  • Ability to work in a team environment, while working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes
  • Customer-focused approach, displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills
