As a senior manager, you will oversee the management of the local council team and professionals who are deployed to undertake the reconstruction, while managing the relationship with third-party project delivery providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and organisation of the schedule of works to optimise safe and timely delivery, and minimise disruption, delay, and inconvenience to customers and other affected public, road, and public transport users, adjacent businesses, stakeholders, and the community.
  • Direct the procurement process in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 and Local Government Regulation 2021 and Council's Procurement Framework.
  • Provide technical and governance advice and risk management and mitigation actively addressing risks relating to Safety, Quality, Environment, Financial, reputation, and resourcing.
  • Customer Service including engaging with the community, funding bodies, government organisations, internal and external customers to understand their expectations and request feedback on service delivery.
  • Develop and implement delivery frameworks and processes to ensure the successful execution of the Project Delivery objective.
  • Lead, develop, and manage high-performing teams, promoting diversity and an inclusive culture, with experience of all aspects of people management including recruitment, capability development, and performance management.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently at all levels, presenting complex construction issues and concepts in a style appropriate to the audience, and represent the organisation externally.
  • Drive, deliver, and sustain large-scale transformation to achieve objectives in a complex environment.

Requirements:

  • A working history in construction and a significant experience in Program and/or Project management with qualifications.
  • A senior level of relevant professional experience in construction and operational leadership managing a Tier 1, 2 to achieve project outcomes.
  • Working history and experience delivering reconstruction projects in a leadership position across technical infrastructure standards including roads, drainage, bridges, and other public assets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, shape conversations, and change behaviours through effective relationships.
