Key Role in Manufacturing Optimization

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in optimizing manufacturing systems, equipment performance, and production workflows. This hands-on position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a production environment but brings a design and systems-thinking approach to continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will operate and improve laser cutting machinery, support mechanical design projects, optimize plant operations, and maintain high engineering and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Mechanical Engineering & Design : Apply engineering principles to improve fabrication and production processes by supporting the design and development of components, assemblies, and tooling using CAD software.
  2. Production Operations : Coordinate equipment setup and oversee production workflows to ensure output quality, safety, and efficiency while operating and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines.
  3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting : Identify and resolve mechanical issues affecting equipment performance and assist in preventive maintenance planning and execution.
  4. Process Improvement & Safety : Analyze workflows and plant layout to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  5. Forklift Operations : Safely transport materials and components in support of production activities by operating a forklift.

Required Skills and Qualifications Include:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  2. 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering environment
  3. Strong understanding of mechanical design, process flow, and equipment performance metrics
  4. Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or AutoCAD)
  5. Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems and implement practical solutions
  6. Knowledge of Australian WHS and engineering safety standards
  7. Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills
  8. Experience in metal fabrication or laser cutting environments
  9. Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
