Primary Care Specialist

The Primary Care Specialist provides comprehensive primary healthcare services to the community with a focus on prevention, early intervention, and continuity of care. This role involves diagnosing and managing a broad range of health conditions, referring patients to specialists as needed, and contributing to the overall wellbeing of patients through culturally sensitive and holistic care.


To be successful in this role, you will:


  • Have a demonstrated ability to assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic health conditions using evidence-based practice.
  • Be committed to patient-centered care with a focus on prevention, early intervention, and continuity.
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and empathetically with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Be skilled in explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and care plans in an accessible manner.
  • Have relevant experience working in general practice settings, delivering comprehensive primary healthcare services.
  • Be competent in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and referring to specialists as needed.
  • Have an understanding of the healthcare needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with a willingness to undertake cultural training.
  • Be committed to delivering culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive care.

Mandatory Requirements
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or equivalent.
