About the RoleThe School Chaplain will work closely with the school community to create opportunities for faith development and advance the religious life of the school. This will involve providing pastoral care and support to students, coordinating reflection and prayer experiences, and contributing to the development and promotion of Catholic ethos within the school community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide pastoral and spiritual support to students, including mentoring and practical support
- Coordinate and facilitate reflection and prayer experiences, such as reflection days, retreats, and forums
- Contribute to the organisation of major school liturgies and celebrations
- Advance the religious life of the school community by contributing to the development and promotion of Catholic ethos
- Foster the experience of Catholic community within the school by supporting events that promote the collegiate spirit and initiating contact with families
- Engage the school community in social justice and social action by making information available to students and facilitating ecumenical and inter-faith relationships and activities
- Undertake ongoing professional learning and participate in TCE facilitated programs
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card
- Certificate IV in Youth Work, Chaplaincy or Pastoral Care or equivalent qualification
- Current Driver's Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
