Caretaker Opportunities in the Australian Outback

Ventia is currently seeking reliable and skilled caretakers to join their NT/WA team on a casual basis, providing leave cover for permanent caretakers in some of Australia's most breathtaking locations.

This unique opportunity allows you to work in a variety of settings, from rugged wilderness areas to scenic coastal regions, with periods of cover ranging from 2-6 weeks per site. You can choose which periods suit you best, ensuring flexibility and control over your schedule.

We coordinate our relief roster 6 months in advance, allowing you to plan ahead and make informed decisions about your availability. As a causal employee, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including:

  • Mowing and slashing as required
  • Fire break maintenance
  • Cleaning of all accommodation facilities
  • Removal of rubbish
  • Providing a security presence
  • Irrigation Repairs
  • March in and out
  • Escorting of contractors on site

To succeed in this role, you must possess specific competencies, including a current C Class vehicle licence, Certificate in Senior First Aid, and well-defined written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills in MS Office applications and good radio communications skills are also essential.

You must be an Australian citizen and able to maintain a Department of Defence Security Clearance to apply. This role would suit retired/semi-retired or traveling couples who have the flexibility to cover up to 6 weeks at a time.

Ventia offers a competitive salary of around $85,000 per annum, depending on experience and location.
