Senior Ecological Consultant Role


We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of Senior Ecological Consultant. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in guiding client projects from start to finish.


In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for providing robust technical and regulatory advice to clients. You will support projects by scoping work, scheduling and overseeing fieldwork, planning surveys and working with a team of ecologists to gather site information and to prepare high-quality reports to advise clients and satisfy regulatory authorities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • You will take the reins on project management and delivery – keeping things on track, on time and on budget while ensuring high standards of quality and client satisfaction;
  • You will build and manage effective client relationships, including the provision of advice and recommendations to meet their needs and foster long-term working relationships;
  • You will manage and mentor a small group of field-based ecologists, developing their professional skills and capabilities in undertaking surveys and associated reporting, while also guiding project teams of passionate ecologists to deliver great work;

Requirements:
  • Graduate qualifications (or higher) in ecology;
  • Comprehensive experience in the design and implementation of ecological field assessments and the preparation and quality control of scientific reports;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proactive, collaborative approach to work, including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects;
  • High quality reporting and reviewing skills;
  • Prior experience in team leadership;
  • An understanding of the regulatory requirements relevant to ecology at local, state and federal level;
