We are seeking an experienced Climate and Circularity Lead to join our team at Darebin City Council.
About the RoleThis is a fixed-term position until 15 February 2026, with a full-time opportunity available. The salary range is $109k-121k plus superannuation.
You will lead a small team in delivering Council's new Climate Emergency Plan and integrating circular economy practices into Council's policies, projects, and programs.
The successful candidate will have tertiary education in climate, sustainability, or related fields and/or substantial experience in these areas.
- Fixed term (parental leave backfill until 15 February 2026), Full-time (9-day fortnight available)
- Salary range $109k-121k plus super
- Located in the heart of Preston, close to public transport and the Preston market

Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Climate and Circularity Lead, your key responsibilities will include:
- Bringing Council's new Climate Emergency Plan to life across Council and in the community
- Embedding circular economy principles into Council's practices and processes
- Leading a team working with the community to increase climate resilience and a circular economy
- Providing advice and strategic direction to Council on climate, circular economy, and other sustainability-related issues
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary education in climate, sustainability, or related fields and/or substantial experience in these areas
- Demonstrated knowledge and interest in climate action and resilience, circular economy, and environmental issues as they relate to local government and the community
- Experience leading a team or major projects, including program development, delivery, and providing strategic direction
