About the Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead our Risk and Fraud Operations efforts in APAC. This role is critical in reducing fraud and abuse-related costs while developing innovative solutions to enhance our proactive risk posture.

You will become an expert in our three core user groups - Spenders, Earners, and Merchants - gaining insights into behaviors that indicate potential fraudulent activity impacting our Marketplace. Your responsibilities include investigating fraud cases, identifying patterns, and designing scalable solutions to minimize fraudulent activity.

Maintaining a balance between delivering an exceptional user experience and preventing fraudulent activities is a key focus of this role.

This position requires a combination of creative problem-solving, detail-oriented responsibility, marketplace risk & fraud knowledge, project management, and strong stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize Uber's strategic fraud focus: Implement new risk mitigation solutions and frameworks that improve our ability to deter, detect, measure, and intervene against fraudulent activity.
  • Fraud loss reduction: Focus on minimizing losses to Uber through various motives, including financial fraud, chargebacks, and promo abuse.
  • Data analysis: Analyze fraud vectors across the marketplace using SQL to review metrics and recommend solutions.
  • Strategy and product improvement: Work with cross-functional teams to assess issues and develop scaleable solutions.
  • Risk management: Evaluate the risk potential of new features or business lines and recommend mitigating measures.
The Experience You'll Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in Risk, Online Retailers, strategy, operations, analytics, or related fields.
  • Deep understanding of the Risk and Fraud ecosystem.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to translate data findings into business strategy.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to solve complex problems using logic and data.
  • Bachelor's degree or MBA graduate.
  • SQL proficiency.
