Job Overview

The role of Senior Training Developer involves leading the creation and delivery of high-quality technical training courses, with a focus on enhancing technical writing standards and supporting documentation capabilities. This position plays a pivotal part in developing end-user capability through bespoke training solutions.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To undertake thorough analysis and design activities to develop concise learning outcomes and comprehensive curricula for training courses.
  • To deliver technical product training, including 'Train the Trainer (T3)' programs, to key stakeholders, ensuring materials are effective and delivered on time.
  • To create and edit procedural and technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • To collaborate closely with engineering teams to produce high-quality documentation that meets user needs and customer expectations.
  • To develop exemplars and guidance materials; monitor, analyse, measure, and report on performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • To lead cross-functional teams to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment in training and documentation projects.
  • To provide mentorship to junior team members and engineers, fostering growth within the team.
  • To create and manage project timelines for training and documentation deliverables, coordinating with stakeholders to meet milestones and mitigate risks.
  • To establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and documentation quality.
  • To utilise data analysis to inform strategic decisions and demonstrate the impact of training and technical writing improvements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certificate IV in Training or equivalent qualifications and above.
  • Demonstrated experience in Instructional Systems Design (ISD), plus developing training materials and delivering technical product training.
  • Excellent technical writing skills for diverse audiences, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of relevant military specifications, such as the Australian Defence Force's 'Systems Approach to Defence Learning' (SADL).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation capabilities.
  • Able to manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce change and improve documentation and training standards.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with tracking tools and managing deliverables.
