About the Role

The Mental Health Young People Specialist will be responsible for effectively engaging, screening and assessing young people aged 12-25 with diverse mental health needs who are referred to or access headspace Campbelltown.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in engaging young people in service activities, gathering relevant client information and conducting biopsychosocial assessments using agreed headspace assessment tools.
  • Coordinating care by assisting clients to access necessary services.
  • Carrying out assertive monitoring of clients with guidance from senior clinical staff.
  • Referring young people to appropriate services within headspace or other community agencies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we are looking for individuals with:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, occupational therapy or any other allied health discipline.
  • Experience in providing clinical mental health services for young people, including engagement and care provision.
  • High level initiative and judgement in handling clinical issues, making decisions and triaging with support from clinical leads and centre managers.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, problem-solving, advocacy and negotiation skills.
