This exciting opportunity is available with the Department of State Growth in Hobart.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Approvals Officer to join our team on a fixed-term flexible basis for 18 months, working up to 73.5 hours per fortnight. As an Approvals Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient day-to-day administration of applications for works and activities on the State Road network.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  •     Provide advice to customers on the application process and deal with them in a credible, friendly, professional, and timely manner.
  •     Provide administrative support to technical officers across the Transport Group to ensure the efficient processing of applications and enquiries within required timeframes.
  •     Review applications and prepare permits for sign off by statutory delegates.
  •     Ensure a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
  •     Work collaboratively with other members of the Policy, Legislation, and Approvals team to effectively manage the overall approvals workload.
Additional Responsibilities

As part of this role, you will also provide ad hoc/periodic support to the Manager, Policy, Legislation, and Approvals by:

  • Main Tasks:
  •     Undertake testing of new and existing online application forms relating to approvals activities.
  •     Support the development and implementation of business improvements including compiling statistics to allow for reporting on approvals activity.
  •     Undertake special duties within your capabilities or for developmental purposes, including undertaking Transport Commission support tasks as directed.
