Job Title: Senior Research Associate, First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing

This is a pivotal opportunity to contribute to advancing research focused on First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB). As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in making independent or original contributions to the research effort within the field of research expertise and to the First Nations SEWB research program.

Responsibilities:
  • Investigate factors influencing SEWB of First Nations employees and develop culturally supportive work environments.
  • Explore SEWB of First Nations children and youth, identifying factors impacting mental health and wellbeing and strategies for improvement of SEWB outcomes.
  • Research SEWB challenges faced by First Nations tertiary students, focusing on enhancing support structures and outcomes to improve retention and graduation rates.
  • Lead research informing culturally responsive suicide prevention strategies with First Nations knowledge and experiences in intervention design.
  • Examine traditional healing practices and other innovative treatments to improve SEWB, developing culturally aligned solutions for mood and anxiety disturbances.
Requirements:
  • PhD in a relevant field or equivalent research experience.
  • Expertise in research methods and analysis, particularly in qualitative and quantitative approaches.
  • Strong understanding of First Nations cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice.
