About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Connections and Compliance Senior Specialist to join our Network Planning and Development team at Essential Energy.

This role will be responsible for leading the development and validation of new criteria, procedures, and strategies to ensure complex load and generation compliance within the Essential Energy electrical network.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the National Electricity Market and the AEMO connection portfolio, with demonstrated experience in the evolving energy industry and connection processes within Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead network and commercial teams in proponent technical activity requirements and obligations to enable and promote ongoing commercial partnerships.
  • Ensure alignment between the technical requirements necessary to facilitate new connections, the Network Planning and Development teams objectives and Essential Energy's corporate strategic goals.
  • Oversee the commercial team in negotiations with internal and external stakeholders relating to the technical requirements for the integration of generators, storage systems and large loads into the network.
  • Lead the identification, development and implementation of training packages to ensure that technical proficiency and compliance capabilities within Network Planning and Development align with benchmarked industry best practice and standards.
  • Mentor stakeholder teams to effectively manage customer relationships with external organizations.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent, with a strong understanding of power system engineering and analysis, and experience in the analysis and planning of transmission or subtransmission networks.

They will also have a deep understanding of renewable generation technologies, utilities industry, market disruptions, and emerging energy systems.
