About The Role

This is a highly demanding and dynamic position within the Emergency Management Victoria organisation. As Chief of Staff, you will work closely with the Emergency Management Commissioner to provide strategic support and advice on priority projects, stakeholder engagement, and general functions.

The ideal candidate will possess sound judgement, excellent stakeholder management skills, strategy and project capability, discretion, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-level support and advice to the Emergency Management Commissioner on priority projects, preparedness and assurance, stakeholder engagement, and general functions.
  • Arranging regular briefings to the Emergency Management Commissioner regarding the performance of statutory functions, working closely with the EMV / ERV Executive team, and representing the Emergency Management Commissioner in internal and external forums as requested.
  • Operating as a point of contact for the Emergency Management Commissioner for the Minister's Office, Secretary's Office, and Deputy Secretary's Office.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and awareness of the political context and Victorian emergency management arrangements.
  • Demonstrated policy development and project management capability, including the ability to achieve objectives within tight timeframes and actively engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in an operational role or setting.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive improvements to practices.
  • High level knowledge and judgement to inform organisational positions on legislative, policy, and industrial proposals.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline would be highly regarded.
