About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team in Northern Queensland, offering a unique blend of inpatient and community services. This permanent position provides an exceptional opportunity for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced clinical care through assessment and treatment services to individuals with psychiatric, alcohol and other drug, emotional and/or behavioural disturbances.
  • Support ongoing education within the mental health service through supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and medical students.
About Our Health Service

Our acute mental health inpatient facility has 24 beds, while our Step-Up Step-Down Unit offers 10 beds. Community Mental Health Services encompass Acute Care, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Continuing Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team, Early Psychosis service ages 16-25, Child and Youth Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health, and Alcohol & Other Drugs Services.

Opportunities exist for involvement in community and inpatient services supporting clients on forensic orders. Outreaching community teams provide services to surrounding rural communities.

The Location

Northern Queensland offers a vibrant regional centre with a population of over 180,000. The region boasts a diverse economy with tourism, agriculture, industry, mining, education, and health sectors. Essential Criteria

To be considered for this role, you must possess a medicine degree from a registered tertiary institution, registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Psychiatry or hold appropriate registration, and Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship via the Royal Australian College and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

Salary and Benefits

Total remuneration value up to $470,780 (L24) includes a salary between $204,206 - $237,196 (L18-L24). Additional benefits include 12.75% employer superannuation contribution, 17.5% leave loading for 4 weeks' leave, generous Salary Sacrificing (conditions apply), Professional Development Leave 3.6 weeks p.a., Professional Development Allowance ($21,500 p.a.), Motor Vehicle Allowance, Over-time and on-call allowances, Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowance (Granted Private Practice arrangements), Access to paid parental leave (conditions apply), Employee Assistance Program, Corporate membership discounts, Fitness Passport (conditions apply), and potential eligibility for the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Scheme (conditions apply).
