Job Title: Diversional Therapist

Employment Term: Permanent Full-Time Location: Toowoomba Aged Care Facility

About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Diversional Therapist to join our team. As a Diversional Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing social and recreational activities to improve and maintain the quality of life of our residents.

You will work closely with residents to explore their interests and develop their skills to improve lifestyle choices and motivate them to participate in individual and group activities.

Assessing resident responses and recording on a regular basis is also an essential part of this role.

A key responsibility of this position will be to observe and record the effectiveness of the programs by monitoring residents' ongoing progress and adjusting the programs to any developing needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement social and recreational activities to improve and maintain the quality of life of residents
  • Explore resident's interests and develop their skills to improve lifestyle choices
  • Motivate residents to participate in individual and group activities
  • Assess resident responses and record on a regular basis
  • Observe and record the effectiveness of programs by monitoring resident's ongoing progress
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Diploma of Leisure and Health or Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or equivalent experience
  • Experience in diversional therapy preferably with overall responsibility for a service diversional therapy program
  • Understanding of resident centred, residential based care services delivery
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills, including basic computer skills
  • NDIS Workers Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain
