Job Overview

This role is designed to support the educational services provided to students with intellectual disabilities at a Special School. As a Support Assistant, you will work under supervision and direction to carry out tasks that are essential to the learning environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Undertake routine and specialized teacher assistant support tasks across various work areas within a Special School environment.
  • Work cooperatively and communicate effectively within a team environment, interacting with teachers, support staff, therapists, parents, and students.
  • Understand principles of effective behavior management for students with intellectual disabilities who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • Provide physical assistance with personal care/self-care responsibilities, as required.
  • Show understanding of intellectual disability and its impact on learning.
