Finance Leader

About the Role:

This position is responsible for leading and managing finance team operations, including financial reporting, compliance, planning and analysis (FP&A), environmental credit trading portfolio management, landholder settlements facilitation, weekly cash flow forecast preparation, and covenant compliance projections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial information ensuring regulatory and financial reporting requirements compliance
  • Provide meaningful analytical insights on monthly financial performance contributing to the monthly board report. Identify potential actions and provide recommendations to senior management
  • Manage the monthly financial reporting close processes with the support of a Financial Accountant and an Assistant Accountant
  • Involve in annual financial budget development and ongoing financial forecasting
  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecast and covenant compliance projections
  • Assist Head of Finance with the management of the environmental credits trading portfolio including facilitation of trades, scenario modelling contract deliveries and liaison with the operational team
  • Monitor and review the teams completion of financial reconciliations and monthly reports
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls
  • Assist with taxation and compliance lodgements for Australian and US entities
  • Key role in the financial audit process ensuring completion in line with regulatory requirements
  • Involve in ERP system implementation project
  • Involvement in ad-hoc board reporting, analysis and Q&A
  • Lead the cost allocation project ensuring appropriate cost apportionment to projects and portfolios
  • Qualifications include CA/CPA with + 5 years' experience in financial reporting roles, preferably with experience in professional services background
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and possesses the ability to manage competing deliverables
  • A confident, enthusiastic, self-starter who can drive their career and professional development
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to communicate effectively with non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to transfer financial awareness to operational data and processes
  • Demonstrated experience in transitioning skills across multiple industries or sub/sectors
  • Experience with complex transactions and recommending accounting positions to the wider team
  • Experience with Australian Taxation System and lodgement requirements (GST, FBT & income tax)
  • Experience with financial audit processes
  • Exposure to delivering best practice month-end close and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Capabilities and Intermediate Financial Modelling Experience
  • Experience in managing a team and providing on the job training
  • Management/cost accounting experience is desirable but not essential
