Motor Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced motor mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems in light vehicles.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on petrol and diesel vehicles. This will include diagnosing faults using electronic and manual diagnostic tools, inspecting and overhauling engines, gearboxes, brake systems, and suspension components.

In addition to the above responsibilities, the motor mechanic will also be required to perform roadworthy checks, safety inspections, and compliance testing. They will also be responsible for replacing worn or damaged parts, including clutches, timing belts, water pumps, and batteries.

The ideal candidate will have a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification) and at least 3 years' post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic. They will also have a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems in light vehicles, as well as familiarity with diagnostic scan tools and workshop equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on petrol and diesel vehicles.
  • Diagnose faults using electronic and manual diagnostic tools.
  • Inspect and overhaul engines, gearboxes, brake systems, and suspension components.
  • Perform roadworthy checks, safety inspections, and compliance testing.

Requirements:
