Virtual healthcare professionals play a vital role in supporting Australians with their health concerns. We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our team of dedicated Virtual Health Clinicians and contribute to the Healthdirect Helpline, also known as Nurse-on-Call in Victoria.

About the Role

As a Virtual Health Clinician, you will provide guidance to callers unsure if they should see a doctor or manage their condition at home. You will conduct comprehensive telephone assessments, recommend appropriate care, and refer callers to other services such as the GP Helpline, Urgent Care Clinics, and Virtual Emergency Departments.

Requirements

We are looking for highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurses who possess excellent communication skills, compassion, and professionalism when interacting with external services and vulnerable population groups. You must have:

  • Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 3 years
  • At least 3 years of full-time (or equivalent) clinical experience within the last 5 years as a Registered Nurse
  • A varied nursing background involving substantial public contact, including complex primary health, acute medical, or emergency department settings
  • Confidence in applying critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure situations across all age groups and clinical presentations
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A strong affinity with using computer systems, including telehealth platforms, databases, and digital communication tools
