Job Description

We are seeking a sharp, market-savvy Spot Trader to join our fast-paced trading desk. This organisation manages a diverse portfolio of solar, wind, and battery storage assets, playing a critical role in optimising performance and revenue across the National Electricity Market (NEM).

As a Spot Trader, you'll be responsible for executing real-time trading strategies, managing dispatch and bidding, and responding to market signals with precision. You'll work closely with analysts, engineers, and portfolio managers to ensure assets are optimised for both performance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute spot market trades and manage bidding strategies for renewable assets
  • Monitor market conditions, price signals, and dispatch intervals in real time
  • Optimise battery storage dispatch and arbitrage opportunities
  • Collaborate with forecasting and analytics teams to refine trading models
  • Ensure compliance with AEMO and NEM regulations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of trading systems and automation tools
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in energy trading, market operations, or dispatch (NEM experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of electricity market dynamics, especially spot pricing and FCAS
  • Experience with battery storage trading and renewable asset optimization
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel, Python, or trading platforms
