Job Description

We are seeking a Lecturer to join our faculty in the School of Arts, Media and Culture.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in communication and journalism. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a related field and/or relevant work experience.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing learning activities and resources, assessing student learning achievements, and providing feedback using suitable approaches and learning environments.

The Lecturer will also contribute to research programs, conduct scholarly impact recognized by peers, and maintain professional development in pedagogy and disciplinary knowledge.

  • Demonstrate a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
  • Conduct classes and assess student learning achievements.
  • Design and develop learning activities and resources.
  • Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Support learning progression with students as individuals and as a cohort.
  • Manage course administration as Course Authority.
  • Maintain professional development in pedagogy and disciplinary knowledge.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Demonstrated a strong national and international profile, along with specialised expertise in one or more of the following areas: data and interactive journalism, multiplatform journalism, artificial intelligence in journalism, and the future of social media and journalism.
  • Demonstrated industry practice and experience are essential; skills and knowledge across practice, research, and theory.
