Job Title:

Therapeutic Youth Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Therapeutic Youth Worker to join our care team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing tailored therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing the unique needs of each child or young person in out-of-home care.

The role involves working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, and providing support to help them overcome their challenges and build resilience on their journey to adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meeting the daily care needs of children and young people, including personal hygiene, health and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support.
  • Contributing to and maintaining a quality care environment that is safe, clean and personalised to those who live there.
  • Documenting events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care.
  • Ensuring children and young people's NDIS plans are accessible while in care.
  • Utilising trauma-informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision.
  • Providing positive behaviour support, therapeutic interventions and safety to children and young people who may experience escalation and crisis.
  • Encouraging social engagement, recreation and community involvement.
  • Collaborating with the care team to develop and implement individualised support plans.
  • Advocating for the rights and needs of children and young people.

About You:

We are looking for someone who has a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. Experience in offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs is essential.

You should have availability to suit a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, weekends and overnights.

Essential qualifications include a current paid working with children check, national police check, valid driver's license, and a suitable minimum qualification, lived experience or eligibility for a traineeship.
