Shape the future of sonography in a collaborative and innovative environment. We are seeking an experienced tutor sonographer to deliver 1:1 clinical training and oversee student progress.

About the Role
  • Deliver high-quality clinical training to postgraduate students, providing support throughout their 24-month program.
  • Oversee independent scanning support, scan time targets, and skill progression.
  • Coordinate student diary management using RIS and ensure workflow optimisation meets clinical learning objectives and operational demands.
  • Support colleagues in their absence, maintaining continuity in training and supervision.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and competency assessments, tracking and documenting progress through platforms like Microsoft Planner.
  • Provide feedback and reporting on student performance, professional behaviour, and patient care in alignment with IDX values.
  • Take on undergraduate students for clinical blocks (5-20 weeks) and ensure their smooth integration into practice.
  • Participate in regular IDX tutor meetings, training sessions, and use IDX Connect's customised support materials for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a balance between teaching and clinical scanning, typically managing 16 patients/day on clinical days.
Key Qualifications
  • Graduate Diploma or Master of Medical Sonography (ASAR-accredited).
  • Minimum 5 years' clinical sonography experience.
  • Proven experience and passion for mentoring, coaching, or clinical supervision.
  • Strong understanding of ultrasound physics, anatomy, scanning techniques, and patient positioning.
  • High standards of technical competence and accuracy in diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Proficient in RIS/PACS, SonoReview, and familiarity with digital reporting platforms.
  • Excellent organisational skills - especially around time management, prioritisation, and diary optimisation.
  • Effective communication with students, patients, radiologists, and wider teams.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical best practice.
