Linux Kernel Developer

We are seeking a skilled Linux kernel developer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.

The successful candidate will have significant programming experience in C, with knowledge of operating system kernel internals and concepts.

They will also have experience with git, Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), and professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.

About the Role

This role involves collaborating with the kernel team to design, develop, and maintain the Ubuntu Linux kernel.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on bleeding-edge platforms, diagnosing and resolving issues in the kernel reported by customers, the community, and discovered through rigorous testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the kernel team to design, develop, and maintain the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  • Work closely with external silicon, cloud, or hardware manufacturer delivery teams on bleeding-edge platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by customers, the community, and discovered through rigorous testing.
  • Take personal responsibility for the delivery of a flavour of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  • Improve tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.
Requirements
  • Significant programming experience in C, with Python, Golang, or other like languages highly regarded.
  • Experience with operating system kernel internals and concepts, Linux highly regarded but not essential.
  • Solid background with git.
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
